As active photographers and filmmakers ourselves,
we recognize professional creators of stills and video demand and deserve only the very best tools and technology. Accordingly, we are proud to represent market-leading brands that comply with this ethos.
As we grow, we are careful to select companies and brands which complement our vision. MAC Group believes innovation is seeing what everybody sees,
but thinking what nobody thinks.
We have a "company within a company" philosophy. Each product brand we market is run as its own company, with its own needs and marketing demands. We appoint a product marketing manager and technical sales manager to each brand. Their sole responsibility is to make sure the needs and goals of the brand are metand act as “brand champions.”
Each brand draws strength from being part of MAC Group, with respect to our Dealer Network, long-standing relationships in the industry, and shared best practices. The net effect is a synergistic family of products with instant access to best-in-class resources.
A rarity in the industry, by providing these all-encompassing marketing services with a singular vision, MAC Group can quickly adapt to changing market trends. We continually modify campaigns already underway, refocus shipping, and otherwise coordinate and alter promotional and distribution efforts to promote our brands with unparalleled precision.
Our Sales Group focuses on the reseller channel and the professionals who create images.
Our Distribution Group handles all aspects of customer service, finance, warehousing, and shipping, with the ability to also service every product we sell.
Our Marketing & Design Team create memorable branding and marketing campaigns across every touchpoint.
In 1988 Jan Lederman, Paul Klingenstein and Henry Froehlich founded Mamiya America; the precursor to MAC Group. All three were enamored with the art and science of picture taking.
Their first efforts were to market, distribute and service the Mamiya line of cameras and associated products. The company was resoundingly successful and helped chart our course for the next quarter of a century.
Over the years expansion saw new products researched and developed for the American market, providing a fully-rounded offering of professional photographic and film equipment.
Sadly, Paul and Henry have passed away, but MAC Group has grown to over 100 employees representing a family of distinct, quality brands. Their original vision is very much alive and well at MAC Group under the leadership of President Jan Lederman.
The people at MAC Group are passionate about photography and cinematography themselves. When customers call with questions about photography, our employees often provide answers or recommendations based on their own experience.
Visit the break room and you’ll typically hear a conversation about a Soviet-era film camera someone picked up on eBay, or a heated debate about a recent editorial in a photography magazine. MAC Group team members also can be heard making plans to go to a gallery show or setting up walking tours to teach each other new techniques. A love of image creation is why we work here.
Photography, filmmaking, and its associated gear is in our blood. Making good images great is just as important to us as it is to any other shooter. We pride ourselves on sharing our knowledge amongst ourselves, with our distributors, and with our customers.
